Promoting Physical Activity: ACT and ABA in Behavior Intervention
In this course, you will explore the importance of physical activity as a public health priority and how applied behavior analytic procedures (ABA), like contingency management and self-management, can promote exercise. You’ll gain insight into the role of Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) in behavior intervention models and its growing empirical support. The course will also address the limitations of group design studies in assessing ACT’s individual effects, especially for trainers and therapists. You’ll analyze a bilingual, one-on-one, five-week ACT-based coaching program aimed at increasing exercise in bilingual international university students, recognizing its potential for long-term impact and post-intervention gains.
